This list takes a look at Artistes who started off a rap career as rappers but have since transitioned into singing, most of them combining rapping and singing together in their career.

1. Olamide

Olamide hardly took any singing role in his first album ,Rapsodi as he employed the services of the singers and fierced heavily on each track as a full fledged indigenous rapper.

However, going by his next three albums ( YBNL,BGEL and street OT),the rapper has since showcased his versatility by joining the singer/rapper camp in the music industry.

With Tracks like Eleda mi,badoo love, bobo ,melo melo as well as even taking the hooks of songs for other artist, one may be forced to question the genre of music Olamide belongs to, rap or pop?

Following his exit from EME,it enabled his full transition to singing as he released The massive hit shake body followed by je kan mo,lole, ijo ayo and countless collabos seeing a turn for good in Skales music career.

Oritsefemi Is Ungrateful – Danku’s Mum Says Singer Is After Her Family’s Life

Some weeks back, the internet went agog with the news of singer, Oritsefemi and ex-manager, engaging in a media war over the ownership of MSG Gang, a label Oritsefemi is claiming he owns.

Oritsefemi, just last week, weighed in o the controversy saying he would lock Danku and his mom behind bars, stating clearly that he gave Danku’s mom 1milion naira for business. Well today, an online source have spoken with Danku’s mom, after Danku himself refused to say anything.

Mrs Funmilayo Adepitan said Oritsefemi is a liar.

Read her interview below:

Mo fe pariwo fun gbogbo omo Nigeria ko gba wa lowo Oritsefemi o, ofe pawa o (I want to appeal to all Nigerians to save us from Oritsefemi because he wants to kill us).

My brother, God will bless you, I really don’t have much to say, but I remember when my son brought him to me and told me about him, the first day I saw him, my mind told me to tell my son to be careful. Oritsefemi is ungrateful, because my son was the one that helped him get the Avatar deal.

I remember clearly back then, Danku wanted to take my last son, Oluwaseun to meet the Avatar man in Abuja but I kicked against it because he was in final year in school, I didn’t want him to be distracted so I told him to take Oritsefemi and I was the one that gave them N10,000 to buy the clothes Oritsefemi wore to meet the man in Abuja, I never knew I shouldn’t have helped him.

Mrs Funmilayo also spoke about Oritsefemi’s claim of gibing her 1million Naira. I have been doing my sand business since 2008, I only met Oritsefemi in 2014 so how can he say that. When they showed me his interview on paper last week, I was almost crying because this Oritsefemi boy is ungrateful when he wanted to rent a house for his mother around Magbon in Badagry, he came to meet me to help him saying it was packaging, that her current residence in Kiri-kiri is not befitting, I gave them over #300,000 cash.

There was another time Danku brought him to me when they wanted to shoot the video for Sexy Ladies with Davido, I gave him N1.2m cash till date he’s not returned the money. I am a landlady with two houses in Lagos so he can’t even compare me with his mum.

All these things he’s saying is a lie, I can say it in front of him and he can’t deny it. My mother died on April 12 and we buried her on May 30, but I almost cancelled the burial because my son had just left Oritsefemi’s house on May 16 and he fell terribly ill. Thank God for his life today, since then Oritsefemi has been threatening us, that’s why am shouting out now so Nigerians will know the type of person he is.

Madam Funmilayo concluded the interview saying:

I even gave him a nickname Oritsefemi Mr Packaging because anytime they come to meet me to collect money they’ll say it’s for packaging, I just want him to leave me and my son alone. As at the time of reporting this news, Oritsefemi is yet to comment on these new revelations.

Hoodlums Stab LAWMA Worker For Tipping Off Police (Graphic Photo)

A worker with the Lagos State Waste Management Agency, Oluwaseun Thomas, is currently on admission at a private hospital on the Lagos Island, after hoodlums stabbed him in the eye for allegedly reporting their activities to the police.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Thomas, whose work area was Oja Oba Market on Dosumu Street, was initially rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, to remove the hoodlums’ knife which was left in his head, before being taken to a private hospital for further treatment. Thomas was said to have been beaten up by the hoodlums, before they stabbed him in the eye.

Our correspondent gathered that Thomas had supplied information, through a community leader in the area, to the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, that hoodlums kept weapons in a hideout in the market. The SARS policemen were said to have stormed the market, and recovered the weapons, including cutlasses, knives and guns, but they were unable to arrest the hoodlums.

Our correspondent gathered that on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at about 9pm, Thomas, who was on a night duty, was clearing some refuse in the market when the hoodlums attacked him. Apart from Thomas, some other workers of the agency at the market were also attacked.

After stabbing him in the eye through the side of his head, the hoodlums abandoned the LAWMA worker by the roadside with the knife stuck in his eye. Residents, who alerted the police at the Adeniji Adele division, were said to have also rushed him to LUTH.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, a resident, Saheed Alatise, said he initially thought the hoodlums came to extort money from the LAWMA workers. He said, “The hoodlums got information that some LAWMA workers gave the police information on the location of their weapons.

“It was not only Seun (Thomas) that they attacked. They stabbed other LAWMA workers who were rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment as well.

“However, they focused on Thomas as they threw him to the ground and punched him. They brought out knives and stabbed him, leaving one of the knives in his eye.”

Our correspondent gathered that a LAWMA driver, identified simply as Suraju, and one Azeez Taofeeq, were among those who sustained injuries.

Another eyewitness, identified only as Alao, said, “The hoodlums were about 10 men. They were led by Agoro, Matanmi and Marcus. Thomas had informed the police about their criminal activities in the market. That was why the hoodlums came after him.”

A woman, who is a community leader, but spoke on condition of anonymity, said the attack on the LAWMA worker was successful partly because he put on his earphones on the night of the incident.

She said, “Thomas just finished secondary school and he is looking for money to start his university education. “His father is late, and the boy is just struggling. His offence was that he hinted us that hoodlums were hiding guns in the market.

“After that police operation, they came after him. What made the attack successful was that he had earphones on and did not hear the commotion when the hoodlums stormed the market. The knife has been removed, but he is still in a coma.”

Thomas could not speak with PUNCH Metro due to his condition. Doctors at the hospital said he was still unconscious.

The Head of Public Affairs, LAWMA, Mr. Lookman Seriki, confirmed the attack, adding that some of the workers had been discharged from the hospital after treatments.

He said, “The attack is true. Some of our workers have been treated and discharged from the hospital. “The police are also investigating the matter.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, also confirmed the incident, adding that the police were waiting for the complainant to give a lead on the arrest of the hoodlums.

She said, “The matter was reported on that day and the police gave the victim a medical paper to go to the hospital and treat himself. However, he has not turned up since then to allow the police follow up the case.

“The police have been calling him to provide a statement that will lead us to make an arrest, but we have not seen him. We assume he is no longer interested in pursuing the matter.”
