The affected security officer (names withheld) described as overzealous by the panel of inquiry is an outsourced security officer who has been sacked by the Polytechnic Authorities. After thorough investigation into the imbroglio, he was immediately fired for an act of gross misconduct - which is not condoned by the Authorities. He has been warned to steer off the campus and its environs forthwith.

P-Square Remain Our Ambassadors – Glo

Next generation network, Globacom, has dispelled the rumour making the rounds that the company is on the verge of dropping Peter and Paul Okoye, the music duo popularly called P-Square, as its ambassadors. Globacom said in a statement in Lagos, on Thursday that P-Square remained with the company as brand ambassadors.

The telecom company disclosed that the annual review of its brand endorsement contracts was only just taking place and so could not have terminated its contract with PSquare. “We have not disengaged PSquare or any of our other ambassadors. We are currently in the process of reviewing our contracts with the brand ambassadors,” the statement said.

The national carrier stated that PSquare had been among its flagship brand ambassadors since 2010, and that it had been a mutually rewarding relationship between the two parties. “We are proud of the role Globacom has played in the rapid upward trajectory of the musical career of these incredibly talented twin brothers,” the company said.

“Globacom has also played a similar role in the exposure and economic empowerment of all the Nigerian entertainers, and others from neighbouring countries, who worked with us as brand ambassadors,” the statement added.

“Globacom holds its brand ambassadors in the highest esteem and has a dignified procedure of managing its relationships with its brand ambassadors.

Whenever brand ambassadors are to be engaged or disengaged, we usually follow the due process and dignify them by holding constructive discussions with them,” Globacom said. The national operator has over the years been the biggest corporate supporter of the entertainment industry, and pioneered the signing of musicians and Nollywood stars as brand ambassadors.

Oscar Pistorious Faces 15 Years In Jail As He Loses Right To Appeal Murder Conviction

Oscar Pistorius has been refused the right to appeal his murder conviction and faces a minimum 15 years in jail when he is sentenced next month. He was convicted of manslaughter after he shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013.But last year judges upgraded the 29-year-old’s conviction to murder. Pistorius’ legal team challenged that decision, but today South Africa’s Constitutional Court rejected his appeal after it ruled the case had “no prospect of success”.

Oscar who has spent the last few months under house arrest at his uncle’s home in Pretoria , is due back in court on April 18 for sentencing.

In continuation of their offensive clearance operations of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in the North East, today, March 3, troops of 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion of 25 Task Force Brigade, 7 Division Nigerian Army, demystified Boko Haram terrorists spiritual power base at the Alagarno forest, Borno State. The troops based on tip off, conducted a clearance operation around Alagarno forest general area, destroying terrorists camps at Mosa, Ariwuzumari and Kagalmari, as well as Missene, Joba, Yajiwa and Sansan During the operations, the troops were able to clear all the camps, killing quite a number of terrorists and recovered Boko Haram terrorists flags hoisted on some premises, destroyed their logistics base and recovered 31 motorcycles, assorted foodstuffs, a donkey and a pick up van, AK-45 rifle with registration number 17714 and a Dane gun. Other items recovered include 2 boxes of 7.62mm ammunition, 4 loaded magazines of AK-47 rifles and 2 magazines pack.
