The Nasarawa State House of Assembly yesterday put six of its legislators on an indefinite suspension for their alleged role in the free for all fight on the floor of the House on Monday.Yesterday, the 6 legislators mainly involved in the disorderliness were summoned by DSS to give account of what happened while the other legislators voted for them to be suspended indefinitely. The six legislators who were suspended were all APC members namely: Abubakar Kana, Kokona West; Kassim Kassim, Akwanga South; Mohammed Okpoku, – Udega/Loko; Makpa Malla, Wamba; Musa Ali, -Keffi East; and Murtala Sodangi, -Nasarawa Central.
The six men were suspended at the session presided over by the deputy speaker, Godiya Akwashiki for “misconduct and for bringing the House to disrepute” followed by a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Tanko Tunga, who accused them of bringing dishonour to the House. In a letter he wrote to the Nigerian State Security Service demanding for the immediate release of Shiite leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, humanrights lawyer, Femi Falana revealed that the Muslim cleric lost his left eye during the Shiite clash with the Nigerian Army in December last year. Falana in the letter, said the doctors are currently battling to save his right eye.
The letter in part reads
“As a result of the brutal attack, Sheikh Zakzaky lost his left eye while doctors are currently battling to save the right one. To compound the physical pain and mental anguish that our clients were subjected to in the circumstance, the Nigeria Police Force and State Security Service have held them incommunicado for the past three and half months”.
El-Zazakky, his wife and some of his members have been in detention since December 2015 after a clash with the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state.

Troops of 152 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with troops of Sector 1 of Multinational Joint Task Force yesterday, Sunday 4th April 2016 carried out clearance operation in suspected hideouts of Boko Haram terrorists around Madawaya general area, cleared and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making factory, killed 15 terrorists and captured some weapons.
The troops cleared terrorists in Madawaya, Jere, Kardile, Koujili, Ngenere and Maksamari, as well as Douse, Bembem, Zombulum and Taraji villages. In addition, they recovered several vehicles and motorcycles.
They also discovered and destroyed the Boko Haram terrorists’ IED making factory at Bula Umara and killed 15 terrorists in the same area.
In addition, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, 4 fully loaded magazines with 7.62mm ammunitions, 2 power generating sets, welding machines, assorted batteries and solar panels.
Other items recovered include drums of beans and other grains as well as Bandolier.
The gallant soldiers also rescued 275 persons held hostage by the Boko Haram terrorists.
One interesting thing is that, one of the rescued persons gave birth to baby boy shortly after their liberation. Both mother and the child are doing fine.
