(Must read) JAMB Set To Upload Names Of Successful Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it will soon commence the uploading names of candidates who have been offered admission into tertiary institution on their website. The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the disclosure in an interview with newsmenon Friday in Lagos.

According to him, the board will ensure that Nigerian children are not unjustly denied admission in any institution of their choice. He said that the names of candidates that had satisfactorily met the admission rules and regulations of the institutions and that of the Federal Government would be uploaded soon. “We have just concluded a five-day Technical Committee meeting on Admission that started on Aug. 22 at the Bayero University Kano. “A lot was deliberated upon and at the end everything came out successful. “We have ensured that the admissions are done in line with the set rules and regulations as provided by the Federal Government and the various institutions.

“We are aware that the function of admission of candidates is solely the job of the Senates of institutions and what we do as a board is to see the guidelines used in admitting the candidates and ensure ratification. “We are passionate about ensuring that no candidate that meets any of the admission rules and guidelines as provided by both the institution and government is denied admission for whatever reason,’’ he said.

The Registrar of the board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, had at the opening of the meeting said that admissions would be carried out based on guidelines approved for each institution by their respective proprietors. He also said that preference expressed for the institutions and courses by the candidates would also be followed. Oloyede assured that the admission of candidates into the respective first choice institutions would be smooth.

Just in!!! World’s Oldest Man Ever Discovered At Age 145 In Indonesia

Experts believe they have found a new world’s oldest man after documents emerged that appear to show Mbah Gotho to be 145 years old. The record-breaking Indonesian would easily be the world’s oldest person ever – breezing past previous holder Jeanne Calment, who died at the age of 122. Mr Gotho is said to have been born on 31 December 1870 – 31 years before the death of Queen Victoria.

If the documents, which are recognised by Indonesian authorities, are true, he would have already been 43-years-old when the First World War began on 28 July 1914. He has outlived four wives and all 10 of his children and now has grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

But Mr Gotho has said he is ready to die after reaching such an unbelievable age. He said: “What I want is to die. My grandchildren are all independent.” And one of his grandsons, Suryanto, says that his grandfather first starting making preparations for the fateful day when he was 122 years old. His documents have not yet been independently verified – meaning he is not officially the world’s oldest person.

President Mugabe Orders Arrest And Detention Of The Entire Zimbabwean Olympic Team – The Reason Will Shock You

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe instructed the Commissioner General of Zimbabwe Police Republic, Augustine Chihuri to arrest and detain the whole Zimbabwean Olympic Team members immediately they arrived the Harare International Airport on Tuesday, August 23.

Zimbabwe which is one of the countries in the Olympics without a medal presented a team of 31 athletes. The closest any of the athletes came to win a contest was at the 8th position. Mr. Mugabe who is incensed with the team’s performance told the Police Chief to arrest all the team members and detain them.

“We have wasted the country’s money on these rats we call athletes. If you are not ready to sacrifice and win even copper or brass medals (referring the 4th and 5th positions) as our neighbors Botswana did, then why do you go to waste our money” he said. ”If we needed people to just go to Brazil to sing our national anthem and hoist our flag, we would have sent some of the beautiful girls and handsome guys from University of Zimbabwe to represent us.”

He added that, the money invested in the team to represent the country could have been used to provide amenities and build schools. “This situation is like an impotent man who is married to five women, what is the essence? I will make sure we share the cost across board for all of them to pay back to government chest even if it takes 10 years to recoup, now it turns out to be a soft loan we have given them to go and visit Brazil as tourist, they are useless” he concluded.

Dog name palava: Pres. Buhari should call the IGP and AGF to order- Alibaba says

According to ace comedian, President Buhari needs to call the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to order regarding the arrest of 40 year old Chinakwe Joachim Iroko who has been arraigned in court for naming his dog Buhari. Read what he wrote below...

President Mohammadu Buhari is a respected man. He is a sitting president. Nothing should be done to discredit him. Just as nothing should be done to rubbish his name. But to all his dogged supporters who are screaming blue mother because of the dog issue, hear this, this is the same path people who messed up Jonathan's presidency took.

You can not tell me that in the over weeks or so that this issue of name dog or not name dog started, the people who work with or work for PMB have not brought it to his notice. Is that what is bothering this country? How many Fulani herdsmen who have killed several Nigerians have been swiftly brought to justice like this dog naming guy? We just have a bunch of senseless and jobless people swallowing panadol for another person's headache masquerading as patriots. Let me just say this one time here and I will not comment on this again. Mr President should cal the IGP and attorney General to order. There are more pressing issues than the name of a dog taking over the times of our courts and heating up the polity. Awon Alai ni nkon se oshi

This was What Soyinka Said In UK On How Buhari Wants To Stop Militants

Prof. Wole Soyinka was a special guest at a literary fanfare that held in Westminster London. While speaking to guests at the event, the Nobel laureate highlighted what he discussed during his recent meeting with Buhari at Aso rock. According to him,the services of international mediators will be sought to mediate between the Nigerian government and militants to resolve lingering crisis in the Niger Delta region. The Niger Delta Avengers and other militants in recent time have been bombing oil installations in the Niger Delta, thus, crippling the economy of the nation.

Soyinka, who spoke at Westminster, London during the launch of two major African literatures told the audience that all hope was not lost in Africa notwithstanding challenges of nation- building and difficult economic situations, some of which led to violence in the continent. He said the current violence in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria and the blowing up of oil installation by some militants was an example of such economic frustration and a feeling of inequality among people who suffered most from the effect of extractive economies.

The Nobel laureate disclosed that an international observatory post of which he would be involved had held preliminary discussions with President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the militants to resolve the crisis in the region. He further said consultation with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby; some members of the British Parliament, the Asantehene, Osei Tutu II would be pursued as an international mediation effort to help bring peace to the afflicted region.

DHB-NEWS: Presidency Advises Ezekwesili To Contest For Presidency In 2019

The Convener of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) and former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, on Saturday, said President Muhammadu Buhari didn’t deserve to be president, due to his lackadaisical attitude to the plight of the 2000 Nigeria Immigration Service recruits, who slept at the entrance of Aso Villa in Abuja from Friday till Saturday morning. But the Nigerian presidency in a swift reaction challenged the former minister to run for presidency and take over from President Buhari.

We recall that NIS recruits were trained on weapons handling and dispersed on August 20, 2015 from their various camps, following a circular, which emanated from the NIS headquarters in Abuja, directing them to go on two weeks break. Since then, they have not been recalled to their respective camps. According to The Nigerian Tribune, Ezekwesili, while appealing to the protesters to maintain decorum, also challenged President Buhari to come out and publicly address the alleged illegal recruitment which has permeated his administration in the last couple of months, saying “that was not the change Nigerians voted for.” “You are great Nigerians. So, you slept here, Oh my God! Inside this cold of Abuja. Somebody holds you a better explanation, and if President Muhammadu Buhari says he doesn’t know that you slept here since yesterday, it means he doesn’t deserve to be there. “This government should not punish those who did not deserve to be punished. Nothing should be done secretly. This is not the change Nigerians voted for. President Buhari should come out and address the allegation of illegal recruitment going on in the civil service,” she added.

She further alleged that the federal government was employing those who did not have knowledge, skills and required literacy through the backdoor into civil service without minding the consequence, while promising to join the recruits until their demands were acceded to by President Buhari. Ezekwesili stated that the impunity Nigerians fought during the immediate past administration has resurfaced in the present administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She frowned on the situation in which the underprivileged were being subjected to hardship before they could be employed into the civil service, pointing out that only the children of members of the National Assembly, Federal Executive Council and bigwigs in the country were gainfully employed, even without merit.

Also speaking, another convener, Mrs Aisha Yesufu said the immediate past administration deserved to be commended for redeeming its image by employing the recruits, wondering why President Buhari, who promised ‘change’ had subjected the youth who had undergone rigorous trainings, especially in weapons handling, to such humiliation.

Some of the other protesters, Godwin Ladi Mercy, Adeleye Adejoke, Salomi Yohanna and Usman Ugbede Yusuf, condemned government action, saying the Federal Government should not refer to the 2,000 youths as applicants, because they have been given provisional offer of appointments, NIS uniforms, identification cards and posted to various commands nationwide.

As of the time of filing this report, the protesters, who slept at the entrance of the Villa till Saturday, have vowed to remain there, until the president or any of his aides comes out to address them. While reacting, the Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, advised Ezekwesili to form a political party to run for presidency if she felt Buhari was not doing well.

He told The Nigerian Tribube in Abuja that if she did so and won the election, Buhari would hand over to her. Asked to react to Ezekwesili’s claims, Shehu said: “Did I hear you say that Madam Ezekwesili said President Muhammadu Buhari is not fit to be in that office? “That is a political statement. What I will advise her to do is to come out of the shadow of the grieving Chibok parents, register a political party and go into the election against the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari.

“If she thinks she is a better person to be in that office, let her present herself to the Nigerian people in an election. She has the right to do so under our constitution.” “The issue of democracy is that there is a right to vote and be voted for. If anybody thinks that they can do a better job than President Muhammadu Buhari as president of Nigeria, let them go and run for the office to win election and take over.”

Republican presidential aspirant, Donald Trump joked on Thursday that if he won the post of heading the White House, it could be his ticket through the Pearly Gates. “I figure it’s probably, maybe the only way I’m going to get to heaven,” he told a group of evangelical pastors in Florida.

Trump called on the pastors at Thursday’s meeting to help get out the vote, saying it would be “the most important election that the country’s ever had” for religious voters. “So go out and spread the word and once I get in, I will do my thing that I do very well,” he said.

DHB-NEWS: Lagos shuts down 12 houses as police uncovers illegal oil wells

The Lagos State Government on Friday shut 12 houses in Abeokuta and Ibadan Streets in Ilasamaja area of the State over discovery of shallow oil wells built by landlords to illegally scoop diesel from pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The oil wells were said to have been built for the purpose of illegally scooping diesel and selling same to members of the public, while some of the affected landlords built pumping machine and bore hole to perpetrate the crime on a large scale. The State's Commissioning for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde who confirmed this while briefing newsmen at the Lagos House, Ikeja, said the step to shut the wells and condone off the area was taken by government to forestall loss of lives and property as a result of the looming danger.

Ayorinde, who addressed journalists alongside top government functionaries and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, said a combined team from the police command, the Ministry of Environment, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Lagos State Fire Service and Sole Administrator of Isolo Local Council Development Area carried out a thorough inspection of the entire area and discovered nothing less than 12 of the illegal oil wells. He said that initial investigation revealed that a few of the landlords where the wells are located were taking advantage of the situation by commercializing the dangerous act.

He said that samples of the substance have been taken for immediate investigation in order to determine the true nature of the substance as well as the root cause of this usually occurrence. He said the State Government was working with the NNPC for further investigation. Ayorinde said that for the safety of residents, especially on Abeokuta and Ibadan Streets, the affected well have been sealed off, adding that the government would also work with those who are likely to be displaced as a result of the development.

“The Lagos State Government wishes to use this opportunity to remind Lagosians and the residents of these areas in particular, to assist the police with useful information and to urge them to always volunteer information before any potentially dangerous situation degenerates to public hazard,” he said. Also speaking the Commissioner of Police confirmed the arrest of three suspects in the operation, adding that a fire tanker has been stationed in the event of any fire incident. The men of the Lagos State Police Command in the area who were on routine patrol said they saw a woman around 12 midnight with keg of diesel and when an attempt was made for her to be accosted, she fled, a development which alerted the police of something fishy.

The police immediately pursued the woman and accosted her, after which she eventually took them to number 12, Abeokuta Street, off Ilasamaja, one of the houses housing the illegal oil wells. Upon getting to the said house, those inside shut the door and prevented the police from gaining entrance.

The officers thereafter left the scene with the arrested woman, and they later came back disguising as potential buyers of diesel, while those inside opened the door. It was at that point that the illegal oil well was discovered at the house, after which about ten more wells were discovered in other houses in Abeokuta and Ibadan streets.
