Nigerian Man In UK Proposes To Girlfriend With Flashmob, Disguises As A Waiter (Photo)

Oyin Fomodun, a Nigerian based in Essex, UK recently proposed to his half Nigerian/half Caribbean girlfriend Yemisi in grande style, and the video of the proposal has left many romantics around the world teary eyed. The 34 Romeo surprised his girlfriend of three years in a crowded restaurant with an elaborate set up that she would never forget.

The stunt – which was captured on video – involved him putting on a prosthetic nose, wig, a beard, layers of make-up and a pair of glasses to disguise himself as an aged waiter. He also filled the entire restaurant with actors for an all-singing, all-dancing flash mob.

The video starts with Yemisi sitting with two friends in Gillray’s steak house, London, before Oyin disguised as a waiter deliberately ‘accidentally’ spills water onto their table and soaking her in the process.

Of course Yemisi was agitated by the waiter(Oyin) who acted oblivious to his actions.

I Got Rifle For Robbery From Boko Haram – Soldier Tries To Rob Filling Station (Photo)

One of the soldiers fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the North has been arrested for attempting to rob a filling station in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The suspect, Abel Solomon (30), said the operation would have fetched him N20 million if it had scaled through. The robbery operation plan was ruined by the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), led by a Chief Superintendent of Police, Abba Kyari. Solomon and his accomplices were arrested while still fine-tuning their plan.

He confessed that the pump action rifle recovered from him, which he wanted to use for the robbery operation, belonged to a Boko Haram insurgent. According to him, after one of their encounters with Boko Haram members, he had taken and buried the rifle. When he and his accomplices started brainstorming on how to rob the filling station, he went and unearthed the rifle. He said he had served at the 58 and 509 Signal Regiments before moving to 143 Battalion in 2014. The suspect, who said he joined the Nigerian Army in 2005, added that:

“After our training at Katangura, Niger State, we were deployed to Adamawa State to fight Boko Haram insurgents. After engaging the insurgents, we normally retrieve all weapons abandoned by the insurgents.

That was how I found a pump action rifle abandoned by the insurgents. I buried it in the bush.”

Scarcity Of Bread Hits Kano As Bakers Embark On Strike

No fewer than 8,000 bakers in Kano have closed down their bakeries as a result of strike over the high cost of flour in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of Master Bakers Association in the state, Malam Kabiru Hassan, told journalists on Wednesday that the members deemed it compulsory to embark on the strike due to the increase in the price of flour and other ingredients for bread production.

He said: “I can confirmed to you that there is no single bread for sale right now in Kano. We were forced into this strike because the price of flour had skyrocketed in the market.”

THISDAY gathered that the scarcity of bread had been recorded in the metropolis forcing residents into massive buying of a local delicacy known as Gurasa.

The strike by bakers has taken its toll on local tea vendors popularly known as Mai’shayi as most of them have started counting their losses.

A tea seller at the popular Ahamadu Bello Way, Malam Sunusi Hamisu, said the strike has visited untold hardship to the downtrodden that relied on their services to live.

“I can’t be convinced this isn’t a conspiracy against the common man in that our sure and cheap ways of eating once day has been rudely interrupted,” Hamisu said.
