These are the Reasons To Honor And Respect Your Elders

If your childhood was awesome. you should have heard about the phrase “Respect your elders”. We were taught to give them the utmost respect. not only because they were born before us, but we should only feel concerned to care for them, aging is part of life and no one will ever elude or get free from the transition. It takes many years to earn the kind of experience an elderly person has accumulated over his life span. I am confident to say the our elders are the perfect ones to be guardians who can guide or control the movement of our lives successfully, especially when the going gets tough along the journey of life. So for this and so many other reasons, our elders command much respect from us and below is theTop 7 Reasons To Respect And Honour Your Eldersin no particular order:

1.EXPERIENCE:

Many youths has the internal interest of honoring the elders. A perfect example is a soldier fighting a war, his fellow countrymen needs to respect him, if not for anything else but for all the ups and down he has conquered, you must respect your elders because of what they have been through in life and are always willing to share their experiences about life to guide us through in all phases of life. Lessons from their life can act as a lead or inspiration in working towards a valued goal for us in the long run. That moment in life when you feel you are getting tired of everything and feel you are giving up, what if, suddenly you know of some elders you can just walk up to, the elders that knows what it feels to be back in feet. Isn’t that going to be a bonus for you? So respect their experience through them to make life more livable.

2. MORALS:

In a generation we are, where almost all couples (parents) are busy in their working places. Most of the time the end result is not always positive in the lives of the kids because of lack of parents to give them the deserved principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong and other moral teachings. In such families, there should be presence of elders to give our future leaders the required moral culture and valuable knowledge.

3.WISDOM & KNOWLEDGE:

No matter how filled your brain is, Our elders have more knowledge and wisdom than you. Their knowledge or mastery of an event or subject gained through the violent or unsteady movement of storms that life takes them through yield great wisdom. They’ve come a long way and they’ve learnt so much, we have a responsibility or fact of being accountable or to blame for not learning from that wisdom. So be cautious to whatever they have to say.

4.HUMANITY:

While we were young, we were helped by people we know and those we don’t know, when a little kid is about to fall down, people rush to assist, to avoid accidents, it is clearly because the baby can not help himself, Humanity which is simply the quality of being humane; benevolence is also needed in the lives of the elders when they need our help also when they helped us when er were young, Especially when they are faced with life challenges like having vision problem and other health problems. it is a back for the help they rendered to us as well.

5. ABOUT TO DIE:

What if you were in the shoes of an elderly person . When the end seems near and your body is failing you, you can no more cope with with the uncertainty of the future physically and mentally . These elders, at this juncture may have many things on their mind but unable to express them. Our sense of responsibility should arise in to render them the assistance they deserve to to give or provide them what is necessary to accomplish a task or satisfy a need to live the rest of their lives peacefully. If you were in their shoes you also wouldn’t wish your last days to be to become full with regret, disappointment and condition of being sad. So you need to stay with them, be with them in their last days.

6.KARMA:

I bet this is self explanatory, whatever you sow you reap, do good and you receive same when it’s time and vice versa. Old age is a phase of life only lucky and people reach. We should be affectionate towards the theelders, because at some point in time, we would be old too. Optimistically, when we get old the younger ones show same concern and affection towards us.

7. ELDERS’ UNCONDITIONAL LOVE:

Elders naturally care for people regardless of age, nationality tribe or ethnicity, even when they are disappointed in you, they still have the strong belief in the mind that you are the young one and embrace you after getting angry with you. These kind of love is hard to find anywhere else in the whole wide world, as their presence gives you hope of being strong and inspire you to love more and more. ____________________________________ As I grow older, I do not want to feel inferior amidst younger ones and labelled insignificant, so if you also want this be cool with elders, share gifts to old people, give your grandparents some talking chances, smile and say Hi to elderly man or woman you meet on the street, smile and help them a lot, and watch yourself getting glad you did.
