Shoking!!! Gunmen Kill 20 Persons And 83 Cows In Nasarawa

Gunmen at the weekend killed 83 cows at Adayi in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

At Loko, the monarch claimed that about 20 people have been killed by gunmen in the last few weeks. The killings were suspected to be reprisals by gunmen who crossed over from Benue State. Although security agencies have stepped up investigation, the Fulani leader of Adayi area of Loko, Mallam Bideri Ahmadu, alleged that suspected Agatu gunmen from Benue State might be behind the killings.

The traditional ruler of Loko, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, alleged that Agatu youths might have perpetrated the act. The Fulani community leader, Mallam Bideri Ahmadu, who addressed reporters in Loko, alleged that Agatu youths crossed over from Benue State about 10:30am last Saturday.

He said the suspects had wanted to “rustle the cows in their boats across River Benue, but the cattle went berserk because of sporadic shootings.” Ahmadu said: “Upon realising they could not achieve their aim, the Agatu youth opened fire on the cows, killing 83. The injured ones are in the bush.” The Mai Loko, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, said in the last few weeks, over 20 men, women and children were killed during attacks on Fulani people by Agatu youths from Benue State. He said the Loko Development Area has only two police officers with no rifles and appealed for more security presence. Sabo urged the Fulani not to retaliate because the government was looking into the crisis.

The Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of the development area, Danlami Umar, said the “fishing community has suffered a setback because the riverine area has been taken over by Agatu youths, who kill at will.

Police spokesman Ismaila Numan said the Nasarawa Division received a report of the killing of 83 cows by suspected hoodlums and investigation had started. A security source said: “There has been tension in the area since the killing of more than 300 people in Agatu area of Benue State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

“We are suspecting reprisals by Agatu youths who do not want Fulani herdsmen in their area again. “The crisis between the Fulani and the Agatu is posing a threat to life and property in the two states. “Nasarawa and Benue governments have to step into the incessant clashes between the Fulani and the Agatu.” Source: TheNation

Blaming Fulani Herdsmen For Benue And Enugu Killings is totally Absurd – Sultan Of Sokoto Says

An organisation led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has described as “absurd” and “unfortunate” the widespread insinuation that Fulani herdsmen are responsible for the attacks on villagers in Benue, Enugu, Nasarawa and other parts of the country.

The Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, a coalition of several Islamic groups in Nigeria, stated this on Sunday. The Sultan is the head of the JNI. In the statement, signed by Khalid Aliyu, the organisation’s secretary-general, the JNI said it was shocked by the attacks.

“Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) received with great shock and deep concern the news of incessant killings and maiming of innocent lives and the destruction of public and private properties. “Of particular concern are the brutal murders of people in Agatu-Benue state, Nnibo-Enugu state and some parts of Nasarawa state.

“It is indeed alarming that within few weeks, deadly attacks were reportedly unleashed while the perpetrators go un-arrested. JNI therefore condemns in strong terms these repeated heinous attacks and once again calls on the relevant security agencies to brace up to the trends, in order to put a stop to this ugly tide, as human lives are sacred and must be seen to be treated as so,” the statement said. The JNI said the attacks were criminal in nature and should be treated as such. “The repeated heinous acts of attacks are crimes against the citizenry and the perpetrators are therefore criminals and must be treated so.”

Foramfera It, however, said the attacks were not carried out by Fulani herdsmen. “It is indeed absurd and most unfortunate that certain groups or people ascribe the incidence on ethnic and/or religious premise and to whimsically apportion blame in order to batter the gradual restoration of peace and security in Nigeria,” it said.

The JNI, which commiserated with the victims of the attack, also called for “concerted introspection and commitment by relevant agencies to take proactive and effective measures in addressing this pernicious problem.” Nigerians have condemned the attacks; and affected communities have blamed security agencies for not protecting them against their attackers who they said were herdsmen. Many Nigerians have also blamed President Muhammadu for not acting strongly enough to condemn the attacks and arrest the perpetrators.

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, who criticised the presidency’s response, stated that “I have yet to hear this government articulate a firm policy of non-tolerance for the serial massacres that have become the nation’s identification stamp.”

The JNI, however, said the authorities have absolved the herdsmen, mainly of Fulani ethnicity, of involvement in the attacks. The JNI’s claim is contrary to that of a leader of the Fulani herdsmen who admitted to PREMIUM TIMES that they carried out the attack in Benue as a retaliation to the murder of some of their leaders “Well, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State has debunked the rumours, likewise the Inspector General of Police has also debunked the insinuations over those being blamed,” the JNI said.

The Young Boy Who Was Declared “Dead” Makes Remarkable Recovery (Photos)

Sadiq’s pathetic condition was brought to the attention of the earlier this year with many declaring him as good as dead. I don’t have much details about his case except that he developed complications following a surgery and was taken to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital. The good news is that he is getting better. Aishat Alubankudi shared the good news on Facebook today.

Below is what she wrote: “Alhamdulillah, another happy ending for all of us on facebook. I m proud of myself and I m proud of you all. This has motivated me to continue. To hell with those calling me a noisemaker, I wont be distracted again by negative people who cant contribute productively in shaa Allah.

I received the following from Sadiq’s doctor. Thanks to Malam Isah Abbas Ahmed who is an unsung hero too. Do you remember Sadiq? Someone commented when I posted his foto and video that he is a dead boy alive, I was upset but prayed for today.

My prayer has been answered. “Assallam alaykum. Attached are picture of SADIQ the boy that was brought to Ahmadu bello university teaching hospital following surgery in private hospital with complications. You among others contributed immensely for his surgeries and care. He can walk without support now and ready to go home. May Allah reward you here and the hereafter. The second picture was in march, he was weighing 10kg and couldn’t walk, now weighing 17kg and walking”
