Network Beef!!! Etisalat Sues MTN Over Visafone Acquisition

Etisalat Nigeria has sued MTN Nigeria and Visafone Ltd, challenging MTN’s use of the 800megahertz (MHZ) spectrum following the acquisition of Visafone.

Etisalat said it considered the action necessary to prevent the use of the spectrum by MTN at this time, as it will entrench the dominance of MTN in the retail data services market.

“You will recall that MTN Nigeria was declared dominant by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in 2013 and remains dominant in the wholesale leased line and retail voice markets.

The use of the 800MHz spectrum to deploy broadband services ahead of its competitors, particularly those who prior to MTNs purchase of Visafone, held similar spectrum bands as MTN, will further entrench MTN’s dominance in the Nigerian telecommunications sector,” Etisalat said in a statement confirmed by its Head of Media, Chineze Amanfo, yesterday.

The telco said it had, in addition to the legal action and in line with Section 86 of the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003, engaged the NCC to understand the basis of its decision to approve the acquisition.

“As you are aware, the matter is already in court as such, we are restrained from commenting further on the matter,” the telco added.

MTN had sued the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) over the imposition of N780billion fine on it by the regulator for harbouring some 5.2million pre-registered subscriber identity module (SIM) cards on its network in violation of extant rules.

I Went To A Doctor For Check Up, He Started Squeezing My Br.€ast – Lady Cries Out

Ladies, if you go to hospital to check your private organs, try ask for a female doctor to avoid this… I dont know if I should tell my husband about this or just swallow it to avoid problems.

I went to a hospital close at Alausa to check for chest lumps. A very young doctor came strolling in to the office. He looked so young…but I decided to keep cool as he was wearing white and was actually assigned to me by the admin at the general waiting area.

The hospital was actually recommended by my sister in-law who had her mammogram there. It was my first time and I was very uncomfortable when he asked me to remove my top and bra and then he started touching my breasts. I decided to close my eyes and wait for him to finish the examination.

The touching soon turned to caressing… At a point he seen to concentrate on my Tip and to be honest, I have a very sensitive Tip and they always harden and jut out when touched (even breast feeding my babies felt that way). This went on and on until I was almost shivering. I was embarrassed beyond words and wanted to ask if lumps form in the Tip area but i felt so violated to speak.

I opened my eyes to tell him to stop only to discover that he was looking at me smiling sheepishly… all the while he’s been handling my breasts! I felt so awful. I felt used and molested. He didn’t say a word, I removed his hands and dressed up while he continued smiling and then started saying some medical trash that didnt make no sense to me cos I wasnt listening anymore.

When I finished dressing up, he even asked me to come back in 7 days time for another round of checks as I left his office.

This happened on Monday and up till now I have this heavy feeling of being violated by a young boy who calls himself a doctor. I still cannot calm down, as if I was defiled. I have been moody and don’t know if I should just tell my husband.

Jose Mourinho Closing In On Manchester United Deal

Jose Mourinhois on the brink of getting the job of his dreams by becomingManchester Unitedmanager this summer.

In a dramatic twist for Manchester football, it means he would resume his toxic rivalry with Pep Guardiola, who was announced last Monday as City’s new boss for next season. No deal has been signed but talks have opened and Mourinho has his heart set on the job.

United see him as the one man who can go head to head with Guardiola when trying to lure new talent to the club. Louis van Gaal’s position at Old Trafford has become increasingly fraught.

United will make a change in the summer as sources close to Mourinho have indicated he has no wish to take over in the middle of a season, preferring instead to start afresh ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.

By 2050 Nigerians Will Starve To Death If….. Presidency Laments

THE Presidency, yesterday, raised alarm that Nigerians would starve to death by 2050 if nothing was done to ensure an all year round farming. It also said with the rate the country was going, the population would by 2050 rise to 509 million. According to the Federal Government, the present mode of farming will not sustain the increasing population in the country. It noted that there was the urgent need for all major stakeholders to work towards improving mechanized farming and irrigation, to ensure an all year farming to avert the problem. Speaking, yesterday, during the budget defence of 2016, Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said the country had the capacity to grow the grass required by the cattle to consume. He also said:- “We have written to state governments to encourage them to develop dams and canals so that agriculture becomes an all year round activity and it is not confined to the rainy season alone.

“Besides, by 2050, Nigeria population will be very close to 500 million at the current rate of growth. This is just 34 years from now. If we carry on at the current rate of one crop per year, with very low mechanization, Nigerians run the risk of starving to death.

He said: “We intend to intensity and consolidate on the local staples, the yams, the cassava, the beans, especially rice and wheat. Both of which consume $11 million per day in import. The figure is going down a bit. We can’t afford that in the long run because we don’t even have the resources.

“The ministry has put necessary machinery in motion to stop the constant bloody clashes between herdsmen and farmers. We have decided we are going to develop massive paddocks across the country.

“What the cows are looking for is grass and water. We have the capacity to grow the grass we want not just any kind of grass but highly nutritive grass for the cows to eat. If it can be done in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, there is no reason why we can’t do it here.

’There is sizable provision for grassing at hinterland, by developing water, drilling of boreholes and small dams to irrigate those areas already mapped out. In the process we hope that the cattle herdsmen would have a more stable life.’

Hoodlums Beat Up & Injure Worshippers During Church Service In Osun

Worshipers at the Divine Victory Evangelical Church of God Gospel Ministry last Sunday escaped death by a whisker as hoodlums armed with guns and other dangerous weapons invaded the church, beat them up and injured some.

Our correspondent gathered that one of the youths at Isale Agbara in Ita Olokan area of Osogbo where the church is located was seen defecating very close to the church and was challenged by some of the worshippers.

The youth was said to have left the place in anger and went and mobilised some hoodlums who were armed with guns, cutlasses and other weapons. The hoodlums, on getting to the church, unleashed terror on the worshipers during service. The incident happened on Sunday January 31st, 2016.

Some of the youths in the church were said to have engaged the hoodlums in a fight but they were overpowered and some of them were reportedly injured by the hoodlums.

A resident of the area, who identified himself simply as Taye, told our correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday that the service was disrupted as most of the worshipers fled the scene of the incident after about 10 of them had been injured by the rampaging hoodlums.

He said, “I heard that one of the area boys went to defecate close to the church and he was chased away by the church members.

The boy was said to have gone and brought some of his colleagues to come and attack the church.

” Some of the church members were injured by the area boys but the arrival of the officials of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps prevented the hoodlums from destroying the church completely and even killing some of the worshippers.”

The Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the NSCDC in Osun State, Mr. Wale Folarin, confirmed the incident while speaking on the telephone with our correspondent.

He said seven of the attackers were arrested and weapons including a locally made gun were recovered from them.

Folarin said, “The timely intervention of officers and men of the Civil Defence prevented the fracas from escalating.

“Hoodlums and other trouble makers are warned not to jeopardise the peace being enjoyed in the state. Anybody caught will be severely dealt with and those on the run will soon be arrested.”
