US Embargo Forced Jonathan To Buy Arms With Raw Cash – Fani-Kayode

FORMER Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has said former president Goodluck Jonathan was forced to buy arms with cash because of the embargo placed on arms purchase. Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Fani-kayode dismissed a statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari, who said Jonathan bought arms with raw cash.
The former minister said contrary to the impression the present administration wants to create in the minds of Nigerians; there was nothing wrong with buying arms with cash under the previous administration.
He explained that the embargo placed on arms purchase by western countries like the United States of America forced Jonathan to purchase arms with cash. He said: “There was an embargo on arms purchase in Nigeria and the military needed the arms to fight against terrorists and the only way arms could be bought was through the black market.
Before the 2015 general election, the military had made sufficient gains in the war against terror because they were able to recover 22 local governments from the terrorists, but all that appears to have been reversed after the elections.
“Contrary to the assurance given by the present administration, the war against terror has not been won by the military and people are being killed every day. The government had claimed on December 23 that the war against insurgency had been won by the military, but on December 25, some people were killed in Maiduguri, with more casualties in Borno on December 27 and in Adamawa on December 28.
It is simply not true that the war against Boko Haram has been won.” He further stated that it is not helpful to continuously blame the present administration for the challenges being faced at the war front but called on Nigerians to come together and support the government in the fight against insurgency.
He also advised the government to come clean about the challenges being faced and stop dwelling on actions of the previous administration Source: naijaloaded

How A Lady was almost used for Rituals by Her Lover in Lagos

Residents of Big Daddy Street in the Atinplome, Bagadry area of Lagos State on Tuesday stormed an uncompleted building in the area, which they suspected to be a ritual killer’s den, after a female victim raised the alarm. It was learnt that at about 12am, while a carnival went on in the area, a woman in her late 20s, whose name had yet to be known, had run into the party with her throat partly cut, while blood was streaming out of her body. The girl, who later became unconscious and rushed to hospital, had told the partying crowd that an alfa, identified as Mallam Sheu, had tricked her into the uncompleted structure before slitting her throat with a knife. The matter was said to have been reported at the Morogbo Police Division, and some policemen came to the scene, but the alfa was said to have fled the uncompleted apartment. It was learnt that in the morning, more residents thronged the area and they were said to have found bloodstains, old clothes, charms and ladies’ clothes inside the structure. Speaking with PUNCH, a resident who identified herself as Mummy Eso, said youths in the area attempted to burn the den in the afternoon, thinking that the girl had died as a result of her injuries. Mummy Eso added that the alfa did not stay in the area and nobody suspected that he used the place for evil purpose. She said: “There was commotion in our area in the midnight when boys holding a street party saw the girl bleeding from the throat. The girl, who just managed to speak, pointed to the structure and said an alfa had attempted to kill her, but she managed to escape. One of her hands had also been tampered with. So, the youths became furious and headed for the uncompleted building. Some policemen, who were also on guard duties at the carnival were informed about the incident and they went too. But information had got to the man, and he escaped before they could arrest him. Since morning, people have been coming to the area to check the building. They attempted to burn it in the afternoon.” Another resident, identified as Akeem Ajao, who visited the building, said the youths found old bloodstains, clothes and charms. He said: “The lady ran into the carnival with blood streaming out of her body. One of those at the carnival saw her and came to her rescue. She said a man was in the house trying to slaughter her. “We rushed the girl to a hospital, where she is now receiving treatment. We did not know that the alfa used the house to do evil works. The girl’s clothes were bloodstained. The police have also come to the area this morning. “When I entered the house, I saw bloodstains, charms and a human bone was also in the man’s car – a Gulf 4 vehicle. It was the boys holding the carnival who noticed the girl. “The girl’s neck was cut. Nobody knows the family of the girl involved. The man has run away from the area.” It was gathered that the Alfa had been having an affair with the lady, before he took her to the building on the evening of the carnival. She comes to see him all the way from Igando area.

8 Categories Of Jobs That Can Frustrate The Life Of Nigerian Graduates

The dream of every graduate is to secure a good job and live a financial stable life, but unemployment and circumstances have made many graduates to settle for low profile jobs These low profile jobs makes life unbearable for graduates which comes with poor salary package, terrible working condition and other derogatory factors. So quickly let’s discuss on the categories of jobs that can frustrate the life of Nigeria Graduates; 1. GNLD The problem with this company is not the product quality but the marketing strategies they adopt in selling their products. It’s an insult to tell a graduate to merchandise drug products under intense sun where customers can actually walk in to a friendly atmosphere pharmacy store. Graduates working with them never cease to complain about their ridiculous staff welfare and poor career growth. 2. Insurance Marketing Frankly speaking and general summarising, many Nigerians don’t believe in insurance policy and that is the first frustration insurance marketers experience from customers. Immediately you introduce this idea to them, they will frustrate your life with curse meanwhile an insurance marketer salary is on commission basis. 3. Bank Marketing I pity employees working in a bank especially contract staffs who work as marketers. Banks give ridiculous targets to them such as opening several accounts in a month with huge deposit knowing fully well that there is economic recession. Such employees come home at night looking tired, frustrated and wearisome and most time, broke. 4. Real Estate Marketing The real estate sector is not booming like before and as a result of this, they advertise marketing vacancies every now and then to recruit for graduates. Apart from the fact that a graduate earn peanut in a month, it’s so difficult to get buyers to purchase a house when people can hardly afford 2 square meal in a day. 5. Teaching It’s a big show of shame on our government to pay people who actually mould the career future of tomorrow’s leaders’ meagre salary. How can N18,000 cater for a grown up man with responsibilities? This is one the reasons why the standard of our educational sector keeps dwindling. 6. Telecom customer care The insult a customer care rep receives from Nigerians daily, is enough to make him/her become a psychiatric patient. When credit is deducted from a customer’s account, he/she calls the customer care line to abuse, ridicule and hurl insults at the agent that picks the call. 7. PHCN When people sight a NEPA/PHCN worker, the next thing that comes to their mind is to beat the hell out of that person. Employees working with electricity regulatory bodies always complain about management of irate customers and distribution of bills. 8. Asian coys Hardly will you see an employee who gives a positive remark about working with an Asian company like the Indians and others. Most employees working with them complain bitterly about the long working hours, small salary and constant threats to sack them.

Lagos And Ogun Bank Robbers’ Arms Suppliers Arrested (Photo)

Detectives attached to the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (SIRT) have arrested suspected arms dealers who supplied Niger Delta militants c*m robbers that attacked banks at Lekki, Ikorodu and Festac in Lagos State and Agbara area of Ogun State. The police arrested eight suspects, including an Army lance corporal, for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to the bank robbers. Aside the arrest of the arms suppliers, SIRT also arrested seven members of the robbery gang. The crackdown on the arms suppliers was led by Mr. Abba Kyari, a Chief Superintendent of Police and officials of Defence Intelligence. Six automatic pump action rifles, a pistol and some cartridges were recovered from the suspects. Detectives gathered that most of the arms sold to the robbers were used for bank robberies, kidnapping and pipeline vandalism. A member of the robbery gang told SIRT operatives that his gang received large supplies of arms and ammunition from the soldier. The soldier was posted to Borno State to fight the Boko Haram. It was also revealed that the soldier used to conceal weapons inside food items heading to Lagos from Borno. The gang, which was also involved in pipeline vandalism at Ikorodu and Ijegemo areas of Lagos, would receive the ‘goods’ at a designated venue. The gang would later credit the soldier’s bank account. The robbers used to come through the waterways, dressed in military camouflage uniforms. They had attacked different banks, where they carted away millions of naira after blowing up banks entrance doors with dynamites. In most of their operations, they killed women, children and policemen. According to the police, the eight suspects, Opeyemi Balogun, Ayodeji Famileye, Michael Adebayo, Edward Paul, Bayo Olaoye, Ahmed Mosuru, Olamilekan Omopeji and Emmanuel Ebo (the soldier), were picked at various locations in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Borno states. A police source said: “The lance corporal was picked at his duty post in Maiduguri, Borno State by men of the Defence Intelligence. The officials received intelligence report of his activities from the police. He is currently undergoing interrogation at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.” The arms suppliers were alleged to have sold no fewer than 15 automatic pump action rifles, a pistol and several cartridges to the gang members. Stating their own side, the arms suppliers insisted they did not know the arms and ammunition bought from them would be used for robbery. According to them, they thought the robbers were soldiers as they were normally seen clad in military fatigue. Famileye, 40, the link between the robbers and arms dealers, said he sold an automatic rifle to the gang for N230,000 and he made over N60,000 on each rifle. He said: “I used to demand extra N30,000 from the gang to procure firearms’ licence for each rifle sold to the gang. I’m not an arms dealer. I have a friend in Oyo State, Mike. He sells arms. I don’t know whether he is a licensed dealer or not. “In 2012, during the fuel subsidy protest in Lagos, I went to Ikorodu to buy fuel and met Opeyemi Balogun. Balogun sold fuel to me and during our conversation; he told me that he was into security.”

See The 7 Things The Bible Forbids, But Most Of Us Do Anyways

We know the Bible can be pretty difficult to accurately interpret. Some people say the old testament laws don’t count anymore, but others think they still do. Bible scholars are needed here because there are some actions the Bible ban both in the old and new testament, and we’d like to know if they are still considered a sin or not? 1. Checking babies out: Matthew 5:28 “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in His heart 2. Braiding your hair: 1Timothy 2:9 “likewise, I want women to adore themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments. ” 3. Women speaking in church : 1corinthians 14:34 “let your woman keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak, but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law”. 4. Eating more than you have to: Proverbs 23:2 … And put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony” 5. Trimming your beard: leviticus 19:27 “Neither shalt though Mar the corners of thy beard” And when people call the bible outdated, people will start shouting “son of the devil”. 6. Gossiping about your colleagues: leviticus 19:16 “Though shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among the people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbor, I am the Lord” 7. Tattoos: leviticus 19:28 ” ya shall not make any cuttings in the flesh of the dead, nor print any marks upon you, I am the Lord.

I’ll Make Sure Arms Fund Thieves are Jailed – President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to ensure that all those involved in the arms procurement graft that led to the death of Nigerians are duly prosecuted and jailed according to the laws of the land. President Buhari said, “That is why those who stole monies meant for arms procurement and shared it among themselves are being arrested and are being shown documents so that they would be asked to refund the money or face prosecution; we would use those documents to prove what they stole, collect all the assets acquired from the proceeds and then jail them.” Still on his interview with the BBC Hausa Service, he explained that the Customs, Ports and direct taxes on goods and services can fund the N6.08trn budget besides his determination to block leakages in how oil revenue is managed. “We have also shown the changes we have made in the Customs; for instance, how much we are making from the Customs service; how much from petroleum, that is NNPC; how much we are making from the ports. There have been lots of leakages in these sectors. If we block these leakages, we would make much more money to run the country despite the fall in the price of oil. “Finally, by enforcing strict compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007 and public expenditure reforms in all MDAs, we have projected up to N1.51 trillion from independent revenues.”

Jose Mourinho Offered Real Madrid Job To Turn Up The Heat On Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is facing a massive dilemma after being offered an instant return to Real Madrid. And that will turn up the heat even further on Manchester United and Louis Van Gaal who is under increasing pressure at Old Trafford. United must move quickly or risk missing out on Mourinho who must also decide on whether to pursue the Real Madrid job – or hang on. Mirror Sport revealed last month Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants Mourinho to return to the Bernabeu. And it is understood that Perez has now made a move to bring in Mourinho to replace under-pressure Rafa Benitez – and wants him in charge as quickly as possible. Mourinho would prefer the United job rather than return to Real Madrid where he left amid controversy and under a cloud two-and-a-half years ago. But despite Mourinho being unpopular with sections of the Real Madrid fans and dressing room, Perez has remained a huge fan. Agents have now sounded out Mourinho’s camp and placed an offer on the table.

See How Much money Nigerians Abroad Sent Home In 2015

With about $21 billion sent home by Nigerians in diaspora in 2015, the country is the sixth largest receiver of remittances in the world, the Migration of Remittance Factbook 2016 has shown. The country is also by far the largest receiver of remittances in sub-Saharan Africa, receiving a total of $34.8 billion this year. The report, which relied on data gathered from January to December 1, 2015, was compiled by the Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development with support from the World Bank, German, Swedish and Swiss governments. An analysis of the report by PREMIUM TIMES also shows that the United States and the United Kingdom are by far the most lucrative destinations for Nigerian migrants. Nigerians at home received a total of $9.4 billion ($5.7 billion from the US and $3.7 billion from the UK) from both countries in 2015. According to the report, the U.S. is the top remittance-sending country in the world. A total of $56.3 billion was sent out of the US to other parts of the world. The second largest remittance-sending country is Saudi Arabia with $36.9 billion followed by Russia ($32.6 billion), Switzerland ($24.7billion) and Germany ($20.8 billion). The report also shows that the cost of sending money within Africa is the second most expensive in the world (the most expensive being the cost of sending money between Australia to the South Pacific country of Vanuatu). For every $200 remitted from South Africa to Zambia, senders are charged 19 per cent. The cost is 17.4 per cent to send the same amount from South Africa- Botswana and 17.3 per cent from Tanzania to Uganda. In comparison, it cost just 0.6 per cent to send the same amount of money from Saudi Arabia to Nepal and 3.1 per cent from the United Arab Emirate to anywhere in the world. Migration According to the report, Nigeria is the third most preferred destination for migrants in Africa after South Africa and Ivory Coast. Nigeria is the fifth emigration country in the continent behind Somalia, Burkina Faso, Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo. The report observed that 2.5 per cent (23.2 million) of the total population of sub-Saharan Africa are migrants. The study showed that Africa is by far the choicest destination for African migrants. 84.6 per cent of African migrants are living within the region. While 4.2 per cent African migrants are found in high-income countries such as the US and in the European Union. The top 10 migrant destinations in the world, the report revealed, are the US (46.1 million), Saudi Arabia (14.6 million), Germany (11.1 million), Russia (11 million), United Arab Emirate (8 million), UK (7.8 million), France (7.5 million), Canada (7.4 million), Spain (6.6 million) and Australia (6.5 million). Boko Haram Militants Close To Defeat – Buhari Tells BBC

The Nigerian military is close to completely defeating Islamist Boko Haram militants, President Muhammadu Buhari has told the BBC He said the militants could no longer mount conventional attacks against security forces or population centres. “I think, technically, we have won the war,” he said. The president has given the army until the end of the month to defeat Boko Haram, whose six-year insurgency has devastated north-eastern Nigeria. But the BBC’s Bashir Sa’ad Abdullahi in the capital, Abuja, says that the deadline is likely to be extended as Boko Haram is still bombing areas despite losing towns under its control. Critics of the government argue that it has exaggerated the scale of its success against the militants, and that each time the army claims to have wiped out Boko Haram, the militants have quietly rebuilt. The insurgency is said to have killed some 17,000 people and left more than two million homeless. The jihadists have been forced to cut back on suicide bombings as a result of the military action against them, President Buhari said. “Boko Haram has reverted to using improvised explosive devices (IEDs),” he said. “They have now been reduced to that.” “Boko Haram is an organised fighting force, I assure you, [but] we have dealt with them.” He said the militants had all but been driven out from Adamawa and Yobe states and remained a force only in its heartland of Borno state. “They cannot now marshal forces and attack towns or attack military installations and so on as they did before. “I don’t think this is mad talking.” The president said that Nigeria had reorganised and reequipped the military. which had received training from the British, the Americans and the French. “A lot is being done,” he said.

Read President Buhari’s Christmas Message To Nigerians

I felicitate with all Nigerians, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, on the joyous occasion of this year’s Christmas. On this occasion of the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, let us all rededicate ourselves to the virtues of peace, love, honesty, justice, equity, piety, humility and service to others which he taught. There can be no doubt that a greater manifestation of these virtues and ideals in our lives will immensely help us to become a more united, peaceful, secure and progressive nation. Let us also reach out in love and compassion to fellow Nigerians who are in distress at this period of our nation’s history. I particularly urge you all to remember victims of terrorism and insurgency in the country, especially Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The Federal Government will continue to collaborate with state governments and other stakeholders to ease the harsh conditions in IDP camps, while the ultimate objective remains to quickly put an end to insurgency and return the IDPs to their homes. We must never again allow any group to hold the nation to ransom under whatever guise. Let us also not allow current socio-economic and security challenges to dampen our expectations for a better Nigeria. This administration has taken a number of measures to restore hope to our people. The 2016 Budget defines our commitment to giving Nigeria a new lease of life. Our change slogan is not a campaign gimmick but a promise that must be kept. We are determined to bring about tangible changes in the lives of our people. In this regard, efforts will be intensified to recover stolen funds, block revenue leakages and enthrone due process, transparency and accountability. Public office is a public trust that must be held to the highest ethical standards. I wish all Nigerians a Merry Christmas. Please drive carefully. MUHAMMADU BUHARI

Cameroonian Troops Kill 70 In Nigeria

Cameroonian troops have killed at least 70 people in North-East Nigeria while chasing Boko haram members, the Associated Press news agency reports. The troops entered Kirawa-Jimni village, a Nigerian-Cameroonian border town in Borno state on Sunday Dec. 20th, searching for members of the sect group “We didn’t know what was going on but the Cameroonian troops suddenly appeared and began to ask us for Boko Haram terrorists. Before we could say a word, they started firing. That scared most of us and we began to run’said Muhammed Abba, a resident of the village and deputy commander of a local vigilante group in Gwoza told AP. He said when people returned on Monday, they found 70 corpses littering the ground. Cameroon’s military has not yet commented on the allegations. Confirming the report, the Borno state spokesman for a civilian self-defence group, Abbas Gava, said he received calls from residents of Ashigashiya village near the border with Cameroon. “They said the soldiers were in hot pursuit of the Boko Haram terrorists who ran into Kirawa-Jimni. The soldiers did not waste time upon arrival as they immediately opened fire on the villagers,” he said.
